Synchronoss ConnectNX is a simple, scalable solution utilized by carriers and service providers to streamline end-to-end order processing. ConnectNX eliminates manual handling of service orders and manages the full lifecycle between customer and supplier via automation and rules-based validation.

ConnectNX provides:

• A simplified UI for easy efficient order entry
• A single interface for all buyer and supplier orders, making it easy to track orders from receipt to fulfillment, regardless of product or service type.
• Reconciliation to billing and real-time reporting
• A business rules management engine to govern orders, mitigate errors and improve time to revenue.
• Automation with customer and supplier back-office systems to minimize error and manual touchpoints

Synchronoss’ Common Order Module is the latest evolution of our ConnectNX platform. As the name suggests, it is a single repository to manage all orders irrespective of format. It is a one stop shop to buy and sell capacity. From a buyer perspective it is a one-to-many portal for single point of entry reaching multiple carriers, and from a seller’s perspective it is a many-to-one portal to consolidate/manage/fulfill orders across all carrier customers.

Solving the complexity
In the US, the majority of carriers still follow the Universal Ordering Model (UOM) standards set by the Ordering and Billing Forum (OBF) for buying and selling capacity. However, this is starting to change with emerging standards such as the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) Sonata standard. Finally, many carriers also maintain custom forms for ordering services.

While UOM provides an industry standard for access and local ordering payloads, carriers implement it independently and can include deviations (particularly with local ordering) – this is a challenge for a carrier to maintain ordering channels with multiple carriers.

The MEF Sonata standard introduced a flexible ordering format with common attributes across service types combined with service type specific payloads. It is bringing order standards to markets that traditionally did not have any (i.e. ordering international wholesale telecom services) and it is broadening the addressable market a carrier can serve via a single order format as Sonata supports carrier-to-carrier wholesale ordering and enterprise-to-carrier retail ordering domestically and internationally.

Carriers are evolving and adapting to different order standards at different paces – which in and of itself creates a challenge to maintain order processes between the buying carriers and the selling carriers. This is where the Common Order Module of Synchronoss’ ConnectNX suite truly supports the carriers. We provide a single repository and common gateway for all orders and associated responses throughout the fulfillment lifecycle.
